Products for perioral dermatitis

Perioral dermatitis is a common inflammatory skin condition that often appears as small red bumps and redness around the mouth, and sometimes around the nose and eyes. The skin may feel tight, sting or become easily irritated. The condition often occurs when the skin barrier has been disrupted, for example due to too oily skin care or too many active products.

Once the skin has stabilized and feels less reactive, you can gradually introduce the products shown below.

Introduce one product at a time and allow at least 1–2 weeks between each new product, so you can clearly see how your skin reacts.

Below we have our collection of strengthening and gentle products

Jojoba is your best friend ♥

When you have perioral dermatitis, the skin barrier is often disrupted and overburdened. The skin is sensitive, reactive, and needs calm – not more active ingredients. This is where jojoba oil comes in.

Jojoba oil is not really a traditional oil, but a liquid wax ester that resembles the skin's own sebum. This means it works with the skin rather than disrupting it. It helps soften, reduce tightness, and support the skin's natural barrier without feeling heavy or clogging.

For perioral dermatitis, the goal is to simplify the routine and avoid overtreatment. Jojoba oil can then act as a soothing, protective and balancing product when the skin needs to recover.

The key is to keep it simple, let the skin rest and give it the right conditions to repair itself – and that's where jojoba oil can be a safe companion on the path back to balance.

Our best tips

Skin with perioral dermatitis needs calm, simplicity and support without being overloaded with too many products. It’s about strengthening the skin barrier and allowing the skin to recover at its own pace. By keeping your routine minimal and gentle, you create the best conditions for balance. Here are some of our top tips:

  • A gentle cleanser like Eco Clean Face White Clay helps remove excess sebum and oil. Use in the evening in circular motions all over the face.

  • For perioral dermatitis, avoid scrubbing your face altogether. Your skin is already irritated and has a weakened barrier, and both mechanical and chemical exfoliation can worsen redness, inflammation, and breakouts. Instead, focus on a gentle cleanse and a simple, soothing routine that gives your skin time to recover.

  • Be patient. It’s often easier said than done – especially when your skin feels unbalanced and flushed. But remember that your skin works in cycles. It takes about 30 days for skin cells to renew themselves. So give your skin time to adapt. Changing your strategy too often or chasing quick results can create more stress on your skin. Try to be consistent, stick to your routine and only evaluate after a few weeks. Long-term and patience are often one of the most important keys to more balanced skin.

  • Avoid touching and squeezing the sensitive areas of your face. We know it can be difficult, but the risk is that bacteria will spread, worsen the inflammation and increase the risk of scarring and pigmentation. Let the skin heal in peace as much as possible.
