First of all, it is not an oil but a liquid wax. If you start looking at ingredient lists for skincare, you will see that jojoba oil is often included in the list. If it is a natural/organic skincare product, this liquid wax is most certainly extracted through cold pressing. This means that the seeds of the jojoba bush have actually been pressed by weight and not by heating or using dangerous solvents. Through cold pressing, the oil retains all its fine properties that the skin likes. It also almost never goes rancid and very few people are allergic to jojoba oil. Grateful to have in skincare, yes.
It is gentle on the skin and has sufficiently small fatty acid molecules that it can easily penetrate the skin to bind moisture in it. The result of this is that the skin is saturated and can stay elastic. Jojoba oil does not clog the skin and is so mild that it can be used on acne inflammations and rosacea but also for perioral dermatitis and other severe skin conditions. In this case, it can double as a cleanser but also be worn to provide the skin with elasticity when even the mildest cream does not help.
It is so mild that it can also be used intimately. It is as if the skin recognizes something in the jojoba oil. As if it can identify with it and therefore lets it in unhindered. It turns out that jojoba oil is very similar to the body's own body fat. Maybe that is why all skin types can use jojoba oil. It saturates and behaves like the body's own fat does and that is why we find it balancing. But no, it doesn't end there... you can also use jojoba oil when shaving. The razor glides nicely and because jojoba oil is somewhat antiseptic, there is no irritation at all after shaving, regardless of where on the body you have shaved.
On sore nipples that have been eaten by nursing babies, jojoba oil! The mother doesn't even have to think about washing the oil off before breastfeeding because it doesn't harm the baby. Anywhere the skin needs to be saturated or balanced, you can use this fantastic oil that I am so fond of.
I have pampered my face with several bottles of cold-pressed jojoba oil. I mainly make sure to pamper the area around my eyes. In the evenings I can put compresses there to really saturate. I can see very clearly how my dryness lines are smoothed out. It becomes smooth and soft. In the fall and winter, this oil becomes a central element of my skin care routine because the skin is exposed to dry cold air that drains the skin of moisture. In the spring and summer, I can scale back the use a bit, but it is there.
The sun also has a drying effect on the skin, which is why I can "treat" my skin in the evening with jojoba oil. Slurp it up, as they say, and it's absorbed! :)
Something almost magical happens to the skin when you saturate it with the gentle and golden drops of jojoba oil.
