Setting up a lovely home spa with time for relaxation and recovery is one of the cheapest and coziest things you can give yourself.
- Start by cleaning the bathroom and lay out freshly washed fluffy towels and a cozy bathrobe and preferably a pair of slippers.
- Turn off ceiling lights or dim them. Light candles, scented candles, tea lights and incense sticks for a really cozy atmosphere.
- Feel free to also place a vase of fresh flowers in the bathroom or decorate with rose petals on the edge of the bathtub or in the bath water.
- Set out a platter of berries and chocolate. Thread the fruits onto skewers to make it easier to eat in the bath.
- Don't forget drinks. A carafe of water, a glass of sparkling organic apple juice or a cup of herbal tea.
- Play a playlist of soothing sounds in the background. The music can be without vocals for a better sense of presence.
- Turn off all other electronics and isolate yourself from your surroundings. Live in the present during your spa session.
If you have a bathtub at home, a hot bath with oils is a perfect start. If not, take a long hot shower and try to disconnect from everything else. Feel free to mix sprigs of thyme or rosemary into the bath. It stimulates blood circulation. Cinnamon, ginger or dried lavender are also fragrant and cozy. Body scrub, put on a face mask or do a foot bath.
Much of what you already have at home can be used. Sugar works as a body scrub, avocado, oats, banana or yogurt and much more can be used as a face mask and, for example, bicarbonate or tea bags are good for a foot bath.
