Shea butter is a natural fat extract that comes from the nuts of the shea nut tree, also known as the butter tree. Shea butter has been used for centuries for cosmetic purposes due to its high content of vitamins and fatty acids. Cleopatra is said to have used the butter for beauty purposes – and it is just as popular now as it was then.
At room temperature, shea butter is solid, but like other types of butter, it melts at body temperature and is thus easily absorbed by the skin, keeping it moisturized for a long time. Thanks to the butter's softening and protective properties, it is a common ingredient in natural skin care products, especially in skin lotions and lip balms.
Shea butter is completely natural and contains no irritating chemicals that can dry out the skin. It is also slightly anti-inflammatory and therefore good for irritated and dry skin. The content of proteins that can cause allergic reactions is also very low.
You will find the fantastic butter in several of our products, including our hand and body creams, oils, scrubs and balms.
